Communication is the transfer of information exchange between the sender and receiver through several communications channels. Communication is one of the most important things in daily life. It significantly affects the flow of information. Today, long distance and online connections have become more frequent as much as physical communication takes place mutually.
As it can be understood from the word "tele", which means distance in Latin, telecommunication is the provision of communication between long distances in electronic ways. Telecommunication methods can be electronic communication that supports with telephone, wireless network connection, via satellite.
Signals used to communicate in telephone systems are transmitted in continuous waves. This method, known as analog, is sufficient to transmit only sounds. Copper telecommunication cables are used to transmit signals. Telephone cables, which were first used in 1877, are still in development today.
Telecommunication cables are used and selected depending on the telephone systems of the countries and the production standards established for this purpose. We use simple structures like a pair of telephone wires in our homes to connect a telephone device from the plug, but the operators who manage the system need cables consisting of hundreds of pairs. Although there are still paper-insulated telecommunication cables in the infrastructure, plastic insulated cables such as polyethylene have been preferred recently due to their high insulation resistance and resistance to environmental conditions.
Types of telecommunication cables provided by Erse:
PDV type cables are used as telecommunication cables in low voltage systems - including building management systems. It can be used for indoor installations, telephone exchange and subscriber distributions. It is not suitable for direct buried or installing under concrete.
PDV cables consist of Class 1 electrolytic solid bare copper diameter of 0,5 mm according to DIN EN 60228 standard. When tinned copper material is used in these products, it is called PDV-K. For insulation PE compound is used. Polyethylene (PE) compounds have excellent dielectric properties. Outstanding electrical properties include high insulation resistance and good abrasion resistance. Up to 10 pairs, cores lay up as star-quads. After 10 pairs, 5 star quads lay up to a group. And 5 or 10 groups lay up to a unit; each group is wrapped by colored polypropylene identification tape. For sheath, PVC compounds are used. It has flame retardancy properties. It has also excellent mechanical properties as good aging properties, good flexibility.
If an outdoor telephone cable is needed, the PE sheathed version should be preferred. KPD-PAP cables are suitable for external environments and direct burial.
VBV type cables are used as telecom cables in low voltage systems - including building management systems. It can be used for indoor installations, telephone exchange and subscriber distributions. It is not suitable for direct buried or installing under concrete.
VBV cables consist of Class 1 electrolytic solid bare copper diameter of 0,5 mm. When tinned copper is used, it is called VBV-K. For insulation PVC compound is used. PVC insulation is not electrically better than PE insulation. Therefore, it should be used for shorter distances compared to PDV cable. Cable core has the form of pair elements. PVC compounds are used for sheathing. It has flame retardancy properties. It has also excellent mechanical properties as good aging properties, good flexibility.
VBAPV type cables are used as telecom cables in low voltage systems - including building management systems. It can be used for indoor installations, telephone exchange and subscriber distributions where electromagnetic shielding is required. It is not suitable for direct buried or installing under concrete.
Construction of VBAPV type cable is the same as VBV except for the shielding. The screen layer has polyester tape, 0,5 mm tinned copper drain wire and Al-PES tape respectively.
HBH type cables are used as telecommunication cables in low voltage systems - including building management systems. It can be used for indoor installations, telephone exchange and subscriber distributions in places where human life and valuable materials and equipment need to be protected. It is not suitable for direct buried or installing under concrete.
HBH cables consist of Class 1 electrolytic solid bare copper diameter of 0,5 mm according to DIN EN 60228 standard. When tinned copper is used, it is called HBH-K. For insulation PE compound is used. The cable jacket is made from HFFR compound that does not occur halogen gases and toxic smoke.
J-Y(St)Y…Lg type cables are used as tele-signal and alarm cables in low voltage systems including building management systems in places where there is electromagnetic interference. It is not suitable for direct buried or installing under concrete. It can be used for indoor communication systems, indoor sound systems and security systems.
These cables are produced according to VDE 0815 standard. They have Class 1 electrolytic solid bare copper conductor according to DIN EN 60228 standard. Cross-section area of conductor can be 0,6 mm, 0,8 mm, 1,0 mm and 1,5 mm². For insulation and sheathing, PVC compound is used. The screen layer has polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire and Al-PES tape respectively.
